Feature spotlight: Custom partner wizard

In the justtrack platform, we've integrated many advertising partners. But integrated partners might not cover all your needs. If you're like many other UA managers and need to connect a custom ad partner to track cost data, manage campaigns, and more, you don't need help from an account manager—you can do it yourself with the custom partner wizard 🧙‍♂️.

Connect a custom partner

From the App Hub (Admin > Apps), you can connect a custom partner.

The custom partner wizard guides you through three simple steps:

  1. Enter partner details
  2. Configure an install postback
  3. Set up a tracking URL
info

We have a dedicated user guide that walks you through the process.

After you connect, you'll be set up to send and receive data with the partner. However, even though the custom partner wizard is simple to use and only has three steps, there are a few important pitfalls to avoid. Specifically, make sure you use valid parameters and macros when configuring your postback and tracking URL.

Avoid common pitfalls

When configuring your postback and tracking URL, you can provide dynamic data using parameters and macros. The parameter defines the name of the data you want to send, while the macro is replaced by either justtrack or the ad partner when a request is made.

To ensure justtrack and the ad partner exchange data correctly, you must use approved parameter names and macros.

For postbacks, the parameter names come from the partner, so you'll need to find them in their documentation. Alternatively, you can ask your partner account manager for the right information. The macros come from justtrack, and you can find a list of valid macros here.

For tracking URLs, the parameter names come from us—you can find our docs here. However, the macros come from the partner.

warning

In any of these cases, if you use incorrect parameters or macros, we can't send data as you intended!

In conclusion

With the custom partner wizard, you have a quick and easy way to connect a custom advertising partner. Just follow our user guide and give it a try yourself! However, be sure to carefully configure your postbacks and tracking URLs, since the parameters and macros you select must be accepted by justtrack and your custom partner.
